Introducing the 2016 Le P’tit Paysan Chardonnay—made with grapes sourced from the small La Belle Rose Vineyard at the base of Jack’s Hill, planted on the distinct iron oxide granite that dominates the east side of the Salinas Valley. Grown in a very cool climate, Ian Brand pressed whole clusters to allow for slow, ‘cool’ fermentation. Racked in neutral oak and stainless steel.
Notice flint, sea air, meyer lemon and hints of brioche, this Chardonnay has a broad palate without losing focus. Finishes with bright acidity, lemon curd and salty minerality.
Pair with aged cheeses, caesar salad, fish based risotto, smoked salmon, cod, grilled halibut, duck with fruit glaze, herbed chicken.
